Then and now
Then
The Ramappa temple at Palampet was begun in 1213 under the Kakatiya dynasty. Its builders made the tower from bricks so porous and light that they are known as floating bricks, which eased the load on the structure beneath. UNESCO inscribed the temple as World Heritage in 2021.
Now
Genome Valley, commissioned in Hyderabad in 1999, has grown into a cluster for biomedical research, training and manufacturing. Hyderabad is one of India’s principal homes for global centres, and it is the proposed host city of the first GCC Bharat Utsav.
Policy
Telangana is preparing a new policy for Global Capability Centres. Reports in September 2026 say it will concentrate on frontier fields: artificial intelligence, space, semiconductors, quantum computing and advanced life sciences. Details will be confirmed with the state delegation.
Cities
- Hyderabad
- The state capital: technology, life sciences and aerospace
- Warangal
- The old Kakatiya capital, with a national institute of technology
At the pavilion
The Telangana delegation will show the region’s centres and industries, its policy and incentives, its talent and universities, its infrastructure and its plans. Details will be published when the delegation confirms.
Culture and cuisine
Hyderabad is a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, known above all for its biryani. Expect Pochampally ikat, in which each thread is tied and dyed before weaving, Cheriyal scroll painting, and Perini, a vigorous dance that dates from the Kakatiya court.
